R.I.P.

Last Easter our family experienced our own resurrection with our fish, Flounder. And that little fish has hung on, floated on his side, swam, rested on the bottom of his bowl, and generally astounded us for the past several months. But earlier this week, he swam no more.
Rest In Peace, Flounder.

Did you take him to the cemetary on Wednesday with you?

actually, we thought about it, as he was not swimming when we got up Wednesday morning. But since the girls did not notice that he was not swimming, we decided to deal with it when we got home:)
They knew Flounder was on 'borrowed time', so they took it much better than when Isabella Fishy died.
Isabella, however, is already talking about wanting a red fish named "Berry".

Man...that was one tough fish! Will you be getting "Berry" any time soon? Reminds me of the hamster that Maddie begged for named "Ruby" for it's ruby-red eyes (albino-ish). One night, our big lab Nick was doing his "job" and decided to rid our home of rodents. The cage didn't seem to be a deterent. He didn't completely kill poor Ruby before I found her, and I ended up nursing a dying hamster all night. Maddie had to learn her first hard lesson in forgiveness and I learned that I'll do just about anything for my kids, but NOT hamster CPR.

I was an adult before my parents told me that my beloved hamster, Mr Potato Head, did not just 'run away', but that our cat had gotten to him and offered him as a 'prize' to my Dad one morning before work. I learned the truth easily 10 years after it happened, and I still cried.
My vote is to hold off on getting another fish, but if it comes down to a fish or a dog, Berry will be joining our family sooner rather than later:)
